SciFi and Fantasy Art: Anubis

My version anyway.  You can find a print here:  http://www.deviantart.com/print/904054/The

Egyptian name-Anpu and the Greek translation-Anubis.  The Ankh symbolizes life.  The lotis blossoms symbolize growth and birth/rebirth.  Khepri symbolizes the passage of Sun and the cycle of life, bringing a new day and the process of healing.  Anubis is the god(ess) of death and embalming.  (S)He ushers you from life into the world of death.

I like the idea of addressing cycles, not just one aspect but all.  Death, has no existance with out life, life is nothing without birth, the cycle is nonexistant without growth.  That is what I have tried to accomplish here.

I love how you made Anubis a woman. I'm currently changing Orion into a woman too (Oryenne)^^ Anyway you know your egyptian gods well. You must be familiar with the akh/ka/ba too^^Yours is a cool idea too... I dont know much about egyptian myth, but I did some research on this one. I figure symbolism should be accurate. I have always liket the stylized canine head and wanted to use it. It is sultry, sleek, dagerous and I like that!

On I love this one! Its beautiful and the colours are amazing, I've never had ANY patience for watercolour or pen (if this is either of those). And I was wondering if by any chance that this is the piece that you're working in your bio picture? Looks somewhat like it for some reason... 2
Great job again, I love all of your pieces!
